What does home mean to you?
In 2013, visual artist Pam Hall developed a collaborative, community-based art project to explore this topic. Using social media, she invited anyone to participate, sending them cardboard “house” templates as a basis for their creative expression. Over the months that followed, she received hundreds of houses: from children, from adults, from artists, from average everyday folks doing a bit of crafting. I submitted one, too (it’s the featured image for this post). The houses all followed the template but each one was unique, and together, they built a village, a community united by creative practice and sharing, even as its individual members were spread around the globe.
